Both products have free download trials available. There are also, on each
site, some free tutorials to help people get up to speed and see what they
are like. You could try those.
Have fun.

I use FCP in a professional context every day. What do you want to know?
If you just need to capture edited footage from DV into your MAC and sync it
up in Logic you could capture over firewire at DV resolution and recompress
from within FCP to a size that Logic can handle. You could also use Media
Cleaner to recompress the video. This would give you more options and
presets.
After that the options of what you might want to to get very big, no matter
what software or platform you're using.
Anything else?

P.S.
Is anyone actually using Final Cut Pro do capture footage for Logic? What
have you discovered regarding sizes and data rates?
HI EVERYONE
I was just given a BEHRINGER eurorack with 6 channels (MX 602) I understand
right. I plug a mini jack in the back of g4 and then plug into line 1 on the
mixer. Main out is where I plug the amp in.. When I play a track already
made in logic it sounds very fussy and quiet. What am I doing wrong? Can any
one help with this please.

Channel 1 in the MX602 is a mono channel. You need a special cable to
plug in the Mac. [called a Y-cable or insert cable] One end should have
a stero plug, and there be 2 mono plugs on the other end. You may only
be able to get one with a 1/4" stereo plug, in this case you will also
need a 1/4"-to-mini stereo adapter.
Then you plug the stereo end into the Mac and the mono ends into either
3/4, 5/6 or Tape-In [which takes different kind of plugs called RCA
plugs]. In fact you may find it easiest to get your hands on a
'mini-stereo to RCA' type lead.
Hope this helps :)

I think I'm going to buy a Logic Control this week!
I know list price is £999 GBP. What's a typical 'real world' deal
on a Logic Control in the UK? Some of the German online stores have
them about £150-200 cheaper than UK list!
There's also the Emagic tour this week in the UK - should I expect
special deals at these events?
Thanks,
G.
Hi, fellow CD.-copiers,
it seems SONY made the next step. According to german and austrian sources
they make the small gap invisible since january.
I just read that informing about methods to crack a copy protection is
forbidden by law in the US.
So DON´T read http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/ghi-24.05.02-000/
(it´s
in german anyway)
As citizens of the still free countries in europe, we will keep our
american friends informed ;-)
But don´t forget to delete our mails after reading...

Hmmm...

Interesting concept but I wonder if such a law will actually stand up
when it is put to the test in court. I am betting it won't.

There's a trial going on right now related to "cracking" copyright
protection. The legislation seems to work and US justice is doing a
proper job on this. Obviously the copyrigth related industries are only
sueing serious infringements. I don't think they'll sue publishers for
publishing the tricks on how to remove copyright protection if it's just
a simple tip like what has been discussed here. That tip has just been
announced in an official music magazine in Germany: Musikwoche:
http://www.mediabiz.de/newsvoll.afp?Nnr4841&Biz=musicbiz&Premium=N&
amp;Navi 000000&T=1
There is good European legislation on this as well, it's just that the
European member states haven't ratified the copyright directive yet. :-(
Cheers,
Joeri

Hi Tobias,

This is not entirely correct.
But in any case ... just because some fools in the US Congress (of which
there are many, unfortunately) decide to pass a stupid law of some kind,
this does not automatically mean that the US courts are in any way obliged
to agree to enforcing that stupid law.
>As citizens of the still free countries in europe, we will keep our

Very glad to be kept informed. Please keep doing so. Personally, I find the
whole thing absurd and a cause for wry amusement, but that's probably just
me
As for the "still free countries in europe" ... well ... I am
myself a
still-hoping-to-be-free-one-day-very-soon citizen of an un-named but
not-yet-free country in Europe. Just which particular European country do
you reside in that has managed to be a "still free country in
Europe"? With
my EC passport it should be no problem for me to migrate there immediately.
Along with my religion and my race and my ethnicity.
>But don´t forget to delete our mails after reading...
Man but this high-level security top secrecy stuff is incredibly exciting.
Giving me a real rush.
Must go now .... got lots of swift deleting to do ... I hear some rather
loud knocking at my door!!!

Hi!
My PC died last weekend, now repairman called me and said that the
motherboard, processor, harddrive and both my cd drives are dead.
So now I´m about to buy a new pc and wonder if you guys have any
recommendations?
First of all I need a new motherboard, processor, memory and
harddrive.
Thanks for any advice.
Best,
Mikael Adle
Unless your PC got hit by lightning, I'd get a new repairman first.

errr.. was their any lightning recently that might have fried your computer?
If all these devices 'died' at the same time then you would have known about
it. It sounds like your repair man is pulling a fast one - do you know this
person long?
Having said that good stuff as a basis of your computer:
ASUS P4T-E motherboard
at least 256MB RDRAM
P4 (Northwood) - fastest you can afford
Matrox G 450 or 550 or ATI Radeon for video
RME Hammerfall DSP plus Multiface for audio
and whatever you are having yourself for DVD, CD-R/ROM/RW etc...
and of course one of those nice black aluminium cases.. :)

Well, it´s a repairman from the store I bought it and the store is a
well known place here in Stockholm. If he says it´s dead then I
guess it´s dead. Whatelse can I believe.
Anyway, any pointers to a new system would be very much appreciated.

Yes. It had to do with "electricity". Dont know how to express the
behaviour, but here it goes. I have all my computercables connected
to a poweradapter that has a I/O switch. When I was about to start
the computer I turned it on and then started the computer. Nothing
happened. I tried a couple of times and then
something "electricitywise" happened and I felt a burning smell
from
within the computer. Therefore I knew something really bad could
have happened to everything in it.
Thanks for the P4 etc recommendation.

I would definitely get a second opinion on the health of all those
components --
I've heard a few horror stories about repair shops before. See if someone
you trust can recommend a competent technician -- if he/she confirms the
diagnosis at least it will put your mind at rest. If it turns out it is
just your power supply or your BIOS needs to be reset or something stupid
like that it will save you a bundle.
