Hi, Does anyone know what happened to Seer systems(www.seersystems.com), the company that made the Reality softsynth? And the SurReal? Their webpage gives me a 404 error. Did they go out of business? TIA, Yoonchi.

Hi I had been wondering also. The only bit of news I have is the following: http://www.jungleib.com/ Looks vaguely like Stanley Jungleib, who started the whole Seer Reality thing, is going to be doing his own thing sometime. I don't think, however, that this will involve the Reality synthesizer because Seer had been giving it less and less support. I think Stanley will be focusing more on his Seer Music Internet player toys, although who knows. If anyone else has more concrete info I too would be happy to know about it. I had been trying to get Reality to work under Windows XP. It won't!! http://www.seermusic.com Kool Musick Keep Musick Kool At 07:46 AM 1/18/2002, you wrote: >Hi, >Does anyone know what happened to Seer systems(www.seersystems.com), the >company that made the Reality softsynth? Message #2754
Hi people, a lil rant for you all this Friday afternoon. I decided to open a new Hotmail account about a month ago. I opened it at hotmail but hadnt told anyone I had it. I made sure I did not subscribe to any hotmail services, not did I use this email address to anything. I checked it today and after 4 weeks I had 198 unread spam mails. Yes, the spam filter was off but it shouldnt matter IMO. It was a new account. It was not an obvious name at all. In fact it was somewhat cryptic. 198 unread mails. Bastards! Closing account. :-) James

Spam is really getting insane. If the spammers only realized their actions were probably going to be the main reason some sort of International Internet Police thing is set up maybe they'd stop. I worked for a small (< 1000 customers) Kansas ISP for four years up until June of 2001... Even that *small* company was completely hammered by spammers. So much so that on Friday and Saturday nights there would be so many dozens and dozens of spam attempts every second our quite robust servers would slowly crash. The worst thing was 90% of the spam wasn't even being sent -to- us, the spammers were trying to bounce the messages off of us, basically using our email servers to send out their spam. The silly thing was, all the requests were automatically denied, since we didn't let outside IP addresses to relay messages through us unless we specifcally allowed them to.. So the idiot spammers would attempt to send hundreds and hundreds of messages, one after another, for hours on end, each one getting rejected. We ended up having to automatically ban all traffic from Korea, Japan, Malasia, China, and many other countries. I'm sure a lot of the spam originating from other countries comes from people in -other- contries yet hacking into their computers and using them to send out the spam, but still.. We had no choice but to ban them, which kind of sucks. Luckily I'm out of the ISP thing so I don't have to worry about this anymore....... Btw I'm not sure if its still up but check out www.freewebemail.com /-----Original Message----- /From: Richmond, James (James) ** CTR ** [mailto:richmondj@...] /Sent: Friday, January 18, 2002 11:16 AM /To: logic-ot@yahoogroups.com /Subject: [L-OT] Microsoft are complete arses... Subject: Chemical Brothers 4th Album
Message #2757
I saw them (supposedly - it's my theory a large number of the more famous musicians don't really exist and sound at concerts is generated through mass consciousness, probably some sort of signal everyone generates picked up by some alien device and fed into the speakers and piles of subs they had at the show:) at the Coachella Music and Arts festival this summer in Indio California. The whole set that night in the "insomniac tent" was really excellent, it all blended together wonderfully, I didn't even notice the change in performers at all. It Began In Afrika was *AMAZING* live, all the mp3's I've heard of it were really crappy remixes, about 5% the quality level of the live set. After hearing Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim live I can't believe how their CD's can possibly sound so CRAPPY compared to their live performances, that's why I had to invent the alien device music-enhancement theory to retain my sanity. That concert was -so- incredible though, there were literally piles and piles of huge speakers and subwoofers in every corner in the rectangular shaped tent as well as two more giant piles in the middle on either side... It sounded like the entire Earth was making the bass, like all the mountains were shaking, it's impossible to describe. :) /-----Original Message----- /From: Reading, John [mailto:jreading@...] /Sent: Wednesday, January 23, 2002 2:05 PM /To: logic-users@yahoogroups.com /Subject: RE: [LUG] [OT] Chemical Brothers 4th Album / /> Aren't we getting extremely OT? / /Well, I shall round it back. It's as if Steinberg has abandoned the Mac support and it has abandoned the TDM support for sure. I think Cubase has always been more stable on Macs than on PCs. Reading some messages on Cubase forums, where all of a sudden Cubase starts running like wild, scares the hell out of me, :-). > /BTW, I saw the video for star guitar (i believe) and it was one of the > /coolest videos I've ever seen. Have you noticed that the scenes are computer animated? They generated everything, AFAIK. Hmm, I didn't notice the syncing. Next time I'll pay more attention, :-). --- In logic-ot@y..., "Martin, Jeremy" <martje@n...> wrote: > I saw them (supposedly - it's my theory a large number of the more famous > musicians don't really exist and sound at concerts is generated through mass > consciousness, probably some sort of signal everyone generates picked up by > some alien device and fed into the speakers and piles of subs they had at > the show:) at the Coachella Music and Arts festival this summer in Indio > California. Electronic music, IMO, needs good CD or DVD playback. I don't know, but every time I hear a Quicktime file, it sounds way better than an mp3. Although it's compressed. Quicktime is one of the Apple products I like very much. But I don't know what it does to my machine sometimes. The machine sometimes just hangs, when using Quicktime, but that may be my old internet machine, :-). After hearing Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim live > I can't believe how their CD's can possibly sound so CRAPPY compared to > their live performances, that's why I had to invent the alien device > music-enhancement theory to retain my sanity. Oh, that's just the experience of a live show, :-). It sounds much larger, much more alive. CDs in that sense are very clinical, unless you have some good acoustical recordings. Besides, CDs are mixed and mastered so they can also sound good on a boombox, so... That concert was -so- > incredible though, there were literally piles and piles of huge speakers and > subwoofers in every corner in the rectangular shaped tent as well as two > more giant piles in the middle on either side... I mix a band regularly, and we mostly play small to medium large places, like bars, school parties etc. We mostly use our own PA for these, which isn't such a big setup; only a couple of hundred Watt system. A couple of weeks ago we had to do a school party gig, and we rented a PA, a couple of kW. That was the first time since I've been with the band for a year, that I said "yes, this is how the bass and kick should sound". Power gives you another experience. Don't know if those low frequency waves have a good affect on you. I had to get out of a disco once, because the low frequencies were making me almost vomit, :-). Cheers, Yoonchi.

Hi, Anyone tried this new product at NAMM? As I read on the Roland site, http://www.rolandus.com/current/press_releases/pr_SH-32_WN.html, I couldn't find out more about this new gadget. I hope it's not another slimmed down Groovebox, without the sequencer and added polyphony. Anyone knows more about this gadget? TIA, Yoonchi.

To convert mp3 to CD Audio, use one of the many apps. If you're on a Mac, I think iTunes does that. PC side, a lot of apps to be found on download.com. I think even Multimedia player 6 does it, doesn't it? I never installed that on my machine, too bulky. > Debbie :-)) Happy weekend, Yoonchi.

I have been using www.artistcollaboration.com but having problems with > it. What kind of problems? Problems uploading or problems of 'not being allowed to upload it there"? I have created a web site from their free web space, I have saved a web page using Microsoft Words. On the artist collaboration site they have an index.html or rename one your self. So I named my web page index.html and then uploaded my file but it says The site is under construction. And when you press the index.html link just a parent directory comes up. All I want is to upload a Demo that I have converted to MP3, so do you know how I can upload it to a site. Any site and advice please. Hope u all enjoying your weekend. Debbie :-))

On the artist collaboration site they have an > index.html or rename one your self. So I named my web page index.html and > then uploaded my file but it says The site is under construction. In your index.html, you have the links. If you open this 'index.html' file in Notepad, fe, you will see something like '<a href= path> Name of song mp3 file</a>', where 'path' is describing where you put the mp3 file on the site, and 'Name of song mp3' is the name you want to see in your web page. 'path' could be something like './song.mp3', if you called your file 'song.mp3'. That './' means that you put the file 'song.mp3' in the root of your site; when building a site you can make folders/directories to put files in and refer to those files when use in a html page. In MS Word it works with the right-click I think; right-click the link in your document in MS Word and fill the "tag property" or something like that. I don't really use Word for html files, so I could be wrong about this, : ). It's essential that you use the slash( = '/') and not the back slash( = '') for the path where you want your files. And when > you press the index.html link just a parent directory comes up. I think this problem I give a solution for above; give the link the proper file name. It's also essential if you use capitals or not; try to use only lower case for file names and link properties. > All I want is to upload a Demo that I have converted to MP3, so do you know > how I can upload it to a site. Any site and advice please. After the index.html has been changed, just upload the index.html and the mp3 file to the site. Can you just tell me where your site should be and I'll have a look at the index.html you have so far.
