In defense of Logic as written by EMagic, as opposed to the newest version produced by apple is only this. When we all were using otari and studer 24 track machines, a poorly designed machine would put a company out of business in a fortnight. And there are laws protecting the consumer from the sale of faulty, defective, or dangerous products. My experience with software, is strictly this; Software is the only product/industry which can get away with selling a known defective product, market the hell out of it and have the right to charge you for the upgrades to solve the problems they knew about in version 1. The last version of Logic made by emagic is version 6 pro. I have been using it on a standard dual CPU g4 since version 5 (about 3 years) with flawless operation. I refuse(d) to upgrade from any version to any version, just because a vendor says it is new and improved. I watch and wait to see that it actually works. I am a degreed computer engineer who refuses to work in the computer industry for this very reason. So maybe a word of caution to anyone who uses software in case you haven't had this experience yet is just because they are selling it and touting it as new and improved doesn't mean it works. Remember that beta testers are not testing the release version, and although their input may or may not be used in defining the final release, it doesn't mean that it works. Software is still a "caveat emptor" which mean "let the buyer beware" kind of market. Howard Scott Lipp howard@...
