Hi group,
this is slightly off topic, I am a NYC composer who will be in
Stockholm from the 18th til the 27th of June. I am looking for a
piano practice room and possibly a studio, or project studio using
Logic 7 or 8.
Thanks for any leads advice. Please email off list gary@whirledmusic.com
thanks again

Hi
I've programed a drum part with the EXS using multiple outputs. To control
and treat the kik (reverb dry), hihat (dry-ish) and snare (wetter)
separately, I've routed the kik and snare to separate aux channels.
How do I control the volume of this drum kit as a whole using hyper draw? ie
I want to control all three elements (kik, hi hat & snare) using one
hyper
draw volume curve.
I tried to create a hyper draw curve for the channel that has the EXS
inserted in it, but this only changes the volume of the hi hat, not the
volume of the kik and snare (which are on the aux channels).
Then, in the environment, I tried to link the channel (with the hyper link
on it) to the aux channels, hoping they would change in tandem, but they
don't...
I'd appreciate your help

You can route all your drum-objects (the exs-instrument and the aux
channels to another aux channel. Then you can hyperdraw this. I
normaly route BD, Snare to an aux called BD/SN, the HH and Cymbal
Stuff to another aux called cymbals. Now I route this two aux channels
and the Toms Aux to my DrumsOut Aux. Now you have the possibility to
change the whole Drumset with DrumsOut.

Thank you, that works great!

Hi All,
I want to be able to trigger drum hits (wav files) via my midi keyboard but
I do not know how to get them loaded or recognised within the EXS sampler? I
don't want to have to physically drag/drop them onto the track, I want to be
able to 'play' them. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks :)

In short: Forget about it.
Somewhat longer answer: The EXS in Logic Express 7 is just the EXSP version,
P standing for "Player". So it won't allow you to create your own
patches.
Possible solutions:
1) Update to Logic Express 8. That will give you access to the full EXS
version.
2) Update to Logic Studio 8. That will also give you access to Ultrabeat,
which probably is more easy to deal with than the EXS for such tasks.
3) Get a third party drum sampler such as NI's Battery.
Personally, even if I think both the updates to Logic Express or Studio 8
are worth the money, I'd go for option 3) anyways, especially if you plan to
do such things more often. The plugins in Logic aren't exactly tailored for
such things.

Sascha

You can also use Translator www.chickensys.com or some other programs
to create .exs files from scratch (.wav fiels) or from other formats
such as Kontakt or similar.

Hello All,
At the Bolder Sounds website I've posted a new FREE sound set for the
EXS24 entitled Tibetan Granular Textures. I used a few samples from
the Tibetan Bowls collection as source files for the resultant
granular ones.
The B.O.B. American Folk Music Instruments volume is now in EXS24
format as well. This set includes American instruments from the
plucked family, also featuring the entire mandolin family. The set is
146 mb and sells for $19.95 ($14.96 with our current sale this
month). Audio demos of this collection are available at the Bolder site.
Here is a instrument list of this set - Autoharp - 30 mb ,Banjo - 13
mb, Hammered Dulcimer - 11 mb, Fretless Gut-Strung Banjo - 5 mb,
Louden Steel String Guitar - 15 mb, Mandolin, Mandola and Mandocello
- 19 mb and Marxophone - 53 mb.
The Granular Conch Shell pad set is now available in EXS24 native
format too.
And last - we are having a 25% off summer sale on all products until
August 1st.
Thanks for your time!
