Hi many thanks for your sharing samples

Hi
I've had to reformat and reinstall everything recently and was unable to
save the old Sampler Instrument folder.
I have a very large Akai sample library on another HD and am now wondering
how to reconnect EXS24 with it...
Do I really have to re-import all that again from the CDs?
Thanks for any help

No, just create an alias to the folder that the .exs files are in and
put it in your new valid Sampler Instruments folder.
Then, in Options make sure that EXS will look on the proper volume
(Local or External) for the samples.
Then, each time you select an instrument in EXS, it may take a second
to find the samples, but once it does the instrument will load quicker.

He said the old Sample Instruments folder was lost - that's most likely
where the .exs files of the converted AKAI disks have been (the EXS places
them there automatically), so I'm afraid all that's left is the extracted
audio files. In that case, the conversions have to be redone indeed.

Yes, Saacha, 'all that's left is the extracted audio files', and now 40Go of
Cds to re-import.
I think I'll copy the Sampler Instrument folder to the external HD next time
to avoid this sort of thing!
Thanks for the info,
Doug

Yeah, that's highly recommended. I'm doing a backup of my own instruments
folder like once a week (depending whether there's new stuff in it or not).
After all, they're not wasting too much space, so there's always space for
them on one of my several external drives. I do as well backup my samples,
which is a bit more tricky as over the years, they've become quite a lot,
but at least I only have to do that for "self-created" material.

Vienna Instruments require a Syncrosoft license (Vienna Key), so they
may be allowing the transfer of the dongle licenses. Not sure why the
Horizon libraries would be different though, as they are tradition
sample libraries.

VSL now :
Dear Cyril, Thanks for your email. I'm glad that you get in contact
with us BEFORE buying or selling a Vienna Instrument because the
tansfer of a Vienna Instruments license to another user is not possible
without our involvement and permission (licenses of our earlier
products, i.e., Horizon Series, Pro Edition and First Edition cannot be
transferred). Vienna Symphonic Library allows a license transfer
under certain, regulated circumstances. The procedure is as follows: 1.
The handling fee for the license transfer is EUR 50.00. 2. Announce name
and email address of the original user and the user the license should
be transfered to. 3. Hand over the complete product to the new user: the
DVDs in their original packaging (including serial number), the Vienna
Instruments software CD, the manual as well as the registered ViennaKey
which contains the product license. 4. The new user has to register as a
user on our website if he hasn't done so already and confirm that he
has received the material listed in 3) to request the change of the
registration data. 5. The license will be transfered to the new user.
Please note that we don't allow reselling through platforms like
eBay or similar, so you'll have to find a buyer/seller privately.
Also, please don't hesitate to contact me if any question pops up! All
the best from Vienna, Stefan Steinbauer -- Vienna Symphonic Library

Try the EVP88, it's right there in your copy of Logic 8...

Hi Garth,
I just tried translating from Roland Sx format to EXS24 and
Translator crashes every time.
I select an S550 disk image and click the Translate button. It starts
to translate then crashes.
I have attached the crash report plus 2 example files.

Thanks, this was for the Mac beta.
I got your email and files and I put it through Bug Reports so it's

Too bad I don't have Logic 8, eh?
I'm running Logic 5.5 on PC, but after a little digging I found the
EVP88 and its Wurlitzer setting - thanks for your help!

Hello
I am looking for comments about the work done by Autosampler.
I have tried the demo, look great but how about the loops ? are they
perfect, no click ?
Best
Cyril
------------------------------------
Cyril,
Autosampler is really a god-sent application. In brief, I use it to
record sounds from gear that I am going to get rid of and there's that
one patch that's holding me back or when I need a sound for when my
band plays live and I cannot possible bring 5 synths with me.
I haven't done any looping in Autosampler and to my knowledge it
doesn't do it at all. You need Keymap to do that. That program is well
worth it and while I haven't yet begun to use EXSManager, the
Compendium bundle has been worth every penny for me. Keymap produces
such good loops and there are complex features just below the surface
so that when you get a grasp on creating and editing EXSes, you can
take them to the next level. For instance, I just learned how to
normalize and even out the dynamics of a wave so that I can make
better use of the envelope controls.
Anyway, I use Autosampler whenever I can find an hour to program the
names, key ranges, and all that of each patch I'm going to record (I
like being organized) and then set it up to record when I'm asleep or
working. I then turn the volume off and let it ride. I suggest
everyone do the same.
Hope this helps,
-tom napack
