Hello,
I would like to insert an "EXS 24 MK II" logo into a user guide,
but I
can not find it at decent resolution. I had some google image search
hits, but none of them were acceptable.
This is the logo what appers on the upper left corner of "EXS 24 MK
II".
Could somebody send me a higher resolution version, or even better as
a vector file? (mail: bacizone@freemail.hu)
Or the name of the font used in that logo would be also cool.
Thanks,
Bz.

It's a ball-ache the way Logic incorporates some of its more useful features
isnt it! It's (as usual) a workaround..but the best way i have found to use
the arpegiator is to wire it directly between your 'Physical Input' and your
'Recording & Thru' components in the Clicks and Ports tab of the
environment. Obviously when you have finished using it you have to take it
out again and re-wire your environment as before.
The one problem i encounter with this is that, whilst the arpegiator runs in
tempo with logic, its note-on command is in sync with your key press so you
will have to drag your resulting arpegiation into time afterwards, but a
simple 'select all' and a click and drag on the first note in the matrix
view will suffice for those non-divisible-by-4ths-and-6ths-notes hehe
I think it's a bit silly that an arpegiator component wasn't included
somehow in the effects or instrument menu as a modifier to automatically do
this for you. but hey ho.
hope this helps, and if someone has found an easier way to do this id love
it please!

I havn't used the arp for some time, instead try using the touch tracks
object. Simply
programme your arppegitor pattern into a region, drag the region to the touch
tracks
object, then you can trigger the region using touch tracks. It'll quantise
launch to 16ths
etc. Cool for on-the-fly drum programming as well.

I am curious how to add samples to the ESX and that they play back in tempo
with the tempo settings chosen in logic?
I feel that when I add a sample, that it seems to play back in its original
tempo when I want it to play back in the tempo I have chosen in Logic...
Thanks in advance ...
Thanks Greg

Maybe you're referring to drum loops and/or musical phrases.
In such cases you may do better to convert the files to Apple Loops -
then they will adjust to your tempo.
EXS24 is a sampler and will simply reproduce the samples - changing
pitch will obviously slow down or speed up the files, but I'm sure
that's not what you want.
Hope this helps
Colin
Apple loops can be useful, but so far I've had a lot of trouble using them.
I might add that my main Logic computer (iBook G4, 256 MB RAM, 1GHz, 30GB
HD) has
just been fitted with a new logic board (no pun intended) and new battery,
so I'm out of a
machine until I pick it up tomorrow. I apologize in advance if this seems
vague...
If you MUST use tempo-synced loops (like Apple Loops) in EXS24, you might
also load the
sample in question into the editor and use the time/pitch function to adjust
it to the
tempo you want. I would then suggest creating a new EXS24 instrument and
assign that
sample to whatever note you want.
My usual approach involves taking loops from other software instruments,
usually
Cameleon5000, FM7, or Logic's ES2, and only sampling the few notes I really
need at
whatever tempo. Sometimes, especially if layering with existing samples,
I'll bounce all
instruments/loops to a single file and assign it to an EXS24 instrument--it
keeps the
above-spec'ed laptop from frequent crashes, a not uncommon peril when
running
CA5000.
The disadvantages are fairly obvious, I think. This only works at a set,
continuous tempo.
Change the tempo, and the samples are immediately out-of-sync. You also are
restricted
to only the notes you want to use since otherwise means the tempo will speed
up/slow
down as you move away from the original pitch and thus bring your loops
out-of-sync
with Logic's tempo. If you are pretty sure about what you are doing in a
song, using
EXS24 as a loop player can be your best bet. Otherwise, it's pretty
inflexible and may
actually be inconvenient for some people.
I've only used pre-existing loops in one big project. In that case, I
copied that audio file
from an EXS24 instrument, adjusted it to the correct tempo, and simply
inserted it into an
audio track where I could loop it to my heart's delight. For the most part,
I try to keep my
stuff in the sampler.
Hi everyone, im having trouble converting wavs and aif sounds so that they
can work in ESXP24 module
Does anyone no how to do that?
many thanks alex

I don't quit follow what you mean by "convert"? You don't have to
convert Wav or AIFF Files to some other format in order to use them as
samples, rather, assemble them into a sample preset, trimming and editing
them as necessary, but in order to make an EXS preset out of a collection of
Wav or AIFF Files, you need the full EXS 24 - the EXSP is just a player
which will allow you to load and play EXS presets.

I do have some samples from 'Dance Mega Drums 2'. But the range of
sounds is small compared to what I am sure the Simmon's drum synth
could produce. I am listening to some 80's reggae and would like to
emulate the drum sounds.
Ideally a collection of samples that covers a broad range of the
different sounds that could be edited/programmed from the Simmon's
electronic drums would be good. Then I could emulate the records I'm
listening to more accurately.
Any leads to where I could find a large collection of Simmon's drum
sounds?

Alex,
You should take a look at Keymap from Redmatica. This is very powerful and
fast!

Hello All,
As promised, the Crystal Glass & Meditation Bowls as well as the
Celtic Pipes collection is now available in EXS 24 format as a
downloadable purchase at the Bolder Sounds site. http://
www.boldersounds.com/
Also posted is a Free sound set as well for the EXS called Ebow
Textures.
I’ve always loved playing the guitar with an Ebow and always thought
it would make for a great sampling collection. I used it a little bit
on the Granular Collection I created back in 1997. It was a project
which I kept putting on the “back burner” as they say.
But someone beat me to it! Check out Ebow Guitar at http://
www.soniccouture.com/pages/ebow.php
I do not actually own this collection, yet I’ve checked out the demos
with great evny. I think these guys at SonicCourtre have really done
a beautiful job on this.
The Bolder Free set was created with an Ebow (energy bow) a Fender
Squier (a knock-off of a
Gibson 335) and a Roland GT8 multi effects unit. The use of effects
is an integral part of the resultant samples.
This sound set uses 5 different sample “textures” which I created by
using a bouncing and sliding effect on the open strings of the guitar.
Even though these “textures” may seem a bit atonal in nature, with a
couple of them you can actually voice chords in the traditional manner.
Have fun!
Dennis @ Bolder
Dennis,
Your glass and bowls collection sounds gorgeous! I'll definitely be
picking these up in the near future, as they are instantly
atmospheric. Don't forget to post in the commercial announcements of
VI-Control, as I'm sure a few members will jump on this set: http://

Thanks Ned for writing.
Glad you mentioned the VI site. I'm always looking for new places to
post news of the free sounds.
Let me know if you know of any other sites if you think of any.
Best wishes!
Dennis
Sorry about that one ...
I meant to send that reply to Ned OFF list.
My apologies!

I have samples from the Simmons SDS5 just contact me via email.
Is it possible to break out the midi note numbers in the percussion tracks
to multi-tracks in Logic Pro?
What i want to do is process separately the individual drums and cymbals.

In the arrange window; Region menu -> Demix -> Demix by Note Pitch
michael
Excuse me if I misinterpret your question...
If you open the editor of your drum sample (far right top of the
sampler) you will see it is broken into groops. The groups are on the
left.
Open a group and you will see channel outputs for them near the
bottom. I cannot recall if you can change the midi, sorry but I am
betting you can. To use this as multichannel you must load it into
your channel strip from the multi instrument drop down.
You can isolate samples or group them together, send them to different
mixing channels, sends, buses etc. I send them to aux channels and
then group them accordingly in the mixing environment for more control.
I hope that helps a little. I am pretty green but I like to do this
with a jazz drum kit I have for the EXS.If there were a way to post my
autoload song I could just send you that to look at. I've got it all
set up for Kontakt and the EXS for multi channel output.
Good luck

I'm not in front of my DAW to try this, but what about copying the MIDI to
mutiple tracks, assigning them to multiple instances of the EXS, and then
using some sort of filtering object in the Environment section to only
allow certain note values for each track? I haven't checked the manual to
see if the last part is possible, but I'd be interested to know if anyone
could verify if such a capability exists.

Lenny
Hey, I'm a brand new user to the EXS24, and I realise that my question is
probably a really simple and an easy thing to fix, but bare with me!
I have a guitar sample that I'd like to use on multiple keys at multiple
tones. I've set up a single zone, ranging an octave, and put the sample as
the root key in the centre. I have successfully set this up so the sample is
indeed transposed on each key, but as I'm sure you're all aware, the length
of the sample is changed too which is an unwanted side-effect.
Is there an easy fix for this or do I have to transpose the sample, bounce
it, change the length with the Time/Pitch machine, save the files and then
add THEM to the separate keys in EXS24?
I'm pretty certain there's an easy solution for this that I'm missing, as I
would imagine that a lot of people require the sampler to work in this
way... Or is this too complex a thing for the EXS24 for to do on it's own?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
