Ken, Keith, we are officially saying "G5 or Intel" because the user experience will be better, but as you have seen, there is actually nothing that forbids you from running Keymap on a G4. Subject: Can you do this using Express's exsp24?
Message #15758
I'm using IK's Sonik Capsule Studio Drums as a sampler instrument in the exsp24. The problem is that the hi-hats don't cut one another off. So, when I go from the open to the closed hi-hats, the open is still rattling after the closed has been hit. Is there a way for me to correct this problem using Express? You'd have to edit the instruments, which the EXSP doesn't allow for. If you want, send me the instrument file(s) (no need to send me the samples, which wouldn't be legal either) and I'll try to correct it/them. Cheers Sascha

Subject: [EXS] Old Lady installation messed up in Logic Exp.
Message #15765
Hi I have a client who has Logic Express and PMI Old Lady. The instrument files are in the Lib/ app support/Logic/sampler instruments and the audio was in the same folder. In the EXS player the instruments show up but it cannot find the audio samples. AFAIK the audio can be anywhere, at least on my system I've had the audio in a variety of harddrives etc. But no dialogue box showed up to ask me where hte samples were located as it does in Logic. I moved the audio to the EXS FActory Samples folder where the other audio was but the same story. Does anyone know what the dealis with Logic Express? Do I need to get him to buy EXS Manager so that it can do the linking? Advice please Best Robyn

I have the Old Lady and I seem to recall that there are different versions on the install disc. Some are 16 bit, some are 24 bit. I don't remember for sure, but there may even be aif versions and wav versions of the samples. Make sure the instruments you copied to the HD correspond with the samples you have copied to the HD. It's likely the instrument is pointing to a different version of the samples than you have on the HD. Double check. You are correct that the location of the samples doesn't matter in this case. -------- Eli Krantzberg http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com Almat Productions

Subject: FIND FUNCTION IN EXS24 II NOT WORKING
Message #15767
Hi does anyone else have the same problem when using the "FIND" function in EXS24 ? I can load all my samples OK and they all play fine, but when I try searching for samples using the "FIND" facility, nothing happens except all the sample disappears from the menu until I clear "FIND", but there are no results from the search. I've tried searches for samples I know are there but still no results. I am running Logic 7.2.3 on an Intel Mac 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo OS X 10.4.8. Any help out there would be much appreciated.

Hi Simon, Not sure if it's a semantic problem or something else - but the Find command in the EXS instrument flip menu does not search out samples. It searches sampler instruments. So, if you are attempting to search the actual samples - that explains your problem. If you are in fact searching for sampler instrument names, then it's something else....... -------- Eli Krantzberg http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com Almat Productions

Hi Eli, I'm just using the "FIND" function within EXS 24, so that would mean that it is searching for Sample Instruments. What I didn't mention in my last post was that up until now the "FIND" function has worked just fine, for instance, select "FIND", type in "KICK" in the dialogue field and a few moments later you have a display of all the sample (Instruments) containing the name "KICK". This now no longer happens and I don't know why. I also just recently upgraded to Logic 7.2.3 from 7.2.2, maybe it's a bug! Simon.

Subject: [EXS] Changing a File Path Thread in EXS24II ? Help
Message #15774
Hi There, I mistakenly chosed the wrong file path when I was promted by the EXS24II to choose between two copies of a "string" sound in my drive. Apparently one was the correct copy, the other was just an alias that was not attached to an actual wav. file. For the life of me, I can't seem to find a way to just choose again the "correct" file path to the file. When I select the sound in EXS24, it searches and it says "Audio file "bspz1s1-2-a1.wav" not found!" When I press "search again" it prompts the same message over and over again. How do I get back on track with this? Any help would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Jorge

jorge wrote: > How do I get back on track with this? Any help would be much appreciated. Don't let the EXS search for the file again but press "continue" (I think that's what the dialog box says). It will then load the instrument without the audio files. After that, go to the editor and select the zone(s) in question. Point them to the correct audiofiles. Unfortunately, I think that the zone settings will still be lost on such an operation (what the heck were they thinking when implementing it like this?). Fwiw, these sort of operations are incredibly lousy in the EXS and I am still wondering how on earth they have never been adressed. If you want these things to be fixed easier, I recommend Redmaticas EXS Manager, which will happily readress the proper samples to your EXS patches. Regards Sascha
