Should be reasonably straight forward, just hit the "edit" button in the EXS, make a zone and load a sample into it. Unless of course you have Logic Express, instead of Logic Pro, which has the playback only version, and editing (including loading samples) is impossible. (EXS-P).

Subject: [EXS] Using EXS24 and AKAI format Samples in EXS24 MKII
Message #15727
I am getting ready to fire up my system "MAC" G5 Dual 2.7 gig (non- intel)running OSX 10.4 Logic Pro 7.2. I realize that it comes with EXS42 MKII, however, I also have a hugh library (spent thousands $$$) of original EXS24 format samples and AKAI format samples that I used to load and play with the EXS24 in my old MAC, funning Logic 6 and OSX 9. So my question is, will I be able to load/use/convert/play these in EXS24 MkII on my new system? I have also purchased Rematica EXS Manager Pro and Autosampler, that I am going to download. If not, is there another virtual sampler on the market that I can purchase that will allow me to atleast load and play the AKAI format samples! I have no desire to purchase a Hardware AKAI Sampler, I sold my S5000 a long time ago. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP???

Message #15728
I just posted the note about using AKAI format samples with EXS24 MkII and forgot all about my Giga sample library which is also extensive. I apologize, but will my Giga samples convert to EXS24 MkII on my OSX 10.4, Logic Pro 7.2 dual processor system? Sory for the inconvenience?

No worry, your new EXS mark II will play the "old" EXS programs and samples, plus it can easily import Akai S-1000/3000 and Giga files too. (The only exception to your request is EXS will not import Giga3 programs (would be recent libraries) and Akai S-5000 programs. You'd need a third-party convertor for that.) Garth Hjelte Sampler User

Subject: Saving Channel Strips With EXS
Message #15743
Hey, I'm working on some EXS stuff that I need to transport to a different system. I want to be able to save my EXS program with the channel strip settings. What's the easiest way to save everything and then transport to another system? Right now when I move it over to another system and load the channel strip preset, the sample file references are lost and it will not load the program. There's gotta be another way to do this. Thanks! -marv

There's gotta be another way to do this. Thanks! You need to backup/move the used instrument as well. Just use either of those: - Project Manager or - Backup used Instruments of current song (available as a keycommand) or - EXS Editor > Copy Audiofiles. This will save the EXS patches as well. After that just place the EXS patches in a place the target machine is able to see them (whatever Sampler Instruments folder) and put the samples wherever the EXS can find them. Regards Sascha

Subject: Stuck Notes in EXS 24 mk II
Message #15746
Hi, I'm getting stuck notes in EXS 24 Mk II. The library in question is rather large. 6GB. My ram is rather limited. 2GB. Could this be a source of the stuck notes? It doesn't pop or click and plays beautifully but some notes are always one when I'm playing very quickly. The manufacturer of the library said they've never had this problem before and it's been around long enough that I believe them. Additionally, if I use Logic's stock Yamaha Grand piano library and play, no stuck notes. If I switch the library out for the much larger library after it's recorded, I can hear the stuck notes as they often surface as dissonance during complex passages. I'm not sure what to do. They library is being streamed off a 3 drive, SATA raid-0 array. Any input would be welcomed. All the best, Petros
