Dear Ingo
Thanks for all those tips and hints. After all those
little desasters do you think it is still worth it?
Thanks

Well, perhaps there's an easier way. I didn't try what happens if the
wav files are not moved. Maybe EXS24 can locate them better then.
Or let EXS24 convert the giga or the sf2 file.

That would depend on how expensive a 260 MB download is. No doubt
these are nice samples: four different samples for each semitone from
D2 to E4. The samples are not looped, that's why the file is so large.

Feel like a bit of an interloper as I'm a mere EXSP user, but I'm hoping you
guys can help.
I use EXSP with Logic Express which, since v.6 has lost the ability to
'sidechain'. This is
something I never used, but now it's gone I need to create a vocoder-like
effect for a vocal -
there are recognisable words in the vocal so I can't just use a 'choir''
sample.
So: two questions:
1. Can the 'sidechain' function be used to route vocals through the EXSP to
treat them in a
vocoder-like way?
2. Now that Logic Express doesn't support sidechaining is there any way to
get round this to
achieve the effect I'm after?
I hope someone can advise.
Cheers,
Nigel
Thank you to whoever recorded and uploaded this metal sounds

Is there an accompanying EXS instrument for these sounds?
I see only the samples themselves and wondering if I have to create my own.

Hi,
I had no trouble installing the samples on my Xtreme digital cd on my new
iMac but when I tried to do the same with the Xtreme analogue cd the system
told me that the installer on that cd wouldn't work on my new iMac. Anyone
know of a way around this? Thanks.
Im using Logic PRO 7 (not express)
My problem is trying to find the Intrument editor.
The plug-in manual says to go to Audio > EX24 instument editor
Unfortunatly my Audio window drops down to
Audio window
Loop browser...
Sample editor
Audio mixer
Import Audio File...
Audio & Hardware drivers...
System performance
Sample rate
Set audio record path...
Refresh freeze files
And thats all, no option for EX24 instrument editor.
I assume I am looking in the wrong place and that I am thick.
The EX24 works fine with the instruments provided, but because I cant find
the editor I cannot create new intruments.
I have just moved from Logic 4 and an AKAI for the convience of creating
intruments within Logic. Any help (such as "thats the wrong 'AUDIO' you
fool) would be greatly appreiceated.
Thanks, CoN

Call up an instance of EXS24 in one of your virtual instrument tracks.
Double click on EXS24, then once the sampler is in front of you,
click on the small Edit button, in the upper right-hand corner.

It should be right after Audio Mixer. That's where it is on mine (Logic
pro v. 7.1.1)
In any case - you can open it directly from within the EXS 24 plugin
interface. There is a button at the top left of the plug in window that
says "edit".

Thanks ned but the only button to the top right is 'options' for importing
Akai, giga etc.
Any idea?
Nope!
I think it might be because I had Express first and then PRO.
When I launce Pro, it launches correctly (as pro 7)
But when I go to 'About Logic pro' it still says 'About Logic Express'
so I must have missed some file when removing express, that is causing EX24
to behave like its lesser couisn and not have the option to edit at all.
I have reinstalled 7 and the problem persists!
Has anyone any tips on how to uninstall expres completley?
Cheers Garth,
I have toast but how do I select the zip as source for an image?
The zip wont mount so I cant select or choose it

I don't mean to sound accusatory, but are you certain that you have a
legitimate copy of Logic Pro 7? I've seen a krack of Logic with
symptoms like you describe - that's the only reason I mention it.
Try actually physically dragging your autoload over the Logic Pro
application icon rather than double clicking.... see if that helps.

Aren't those best used as [one-shot] Apple loops?
Anyway, creating an EXS for these is a matter of 1 drag + drop operation:
see "multiple samples", page 561, plug-in reference manual.

This is only in Toast 5, not 6 or 7. use Device Copy, and Select.
It'll show you the devices on the system, NOT the mounted volumes.
Then to File-Save As Image...
Or you can use Disk Utility in OSX.

There used to be a sample CD from east west, called “Robots and computers”,
you might want to check out.

Dear Gabe Andruzzi
Try this.
Take asound you already have in your EXS and alter
them in Logic's built in Plug-in
"DISTORTION:BitCrusher".There you you can reduce the
resolution from
24bit down to 1 bit.
just make shure to make a copy of your original.

I have a folder of iTunes Aiff files that I want to access and
edit/play within EXS24.
Is this doable?
If so, can anyone tell me how to do it, where to place the folder
of audio files, if the iTune Aiff files will work as is or need
to be converted, etc....
PS: Dual PowerMac G4 4GB RAM, running Logic Pro 7
Thank you
