Subject: [EXS] Files Questions
Message #15351
Ok so this may sound very dumb but how exactly do i install, for example, the EXS24Streetbass found in the EXS Library folder of the File menu? Do you drop the items in the Logic folder under User/Library/Application Support/Logic or System/Library/Application Support/Logic? Do you then open by selecting the drop down menu of the EXS24 and selecting Load Setting? New at this so please explain in simple terms. Thanks.

Subject: [EXS] EXS24 always chooses first occurrence of program
Message #15353
hi, I have a very annoying thing with Logic and EXS24. I have the same program name (and even the same sample names) on several subfolders. I tell EXS24 to select the program from subfolder C, but when I switch songs, or I reload Logic, it always gets the one from subfolder A. How can I control EXS24 to choose the right one? Thanks, E-Rick

Subject: Xtreme Analog Volume 1 Sample Library for Logic 7
Message #15355
Howdy, I bought the Xtreme Analog Vol 1 CD for Logic years ago. Now that I am using Logic 7 on OSX, I cannot install the CD as it only recognises the OS9 operating system. I can get all the audio samples off the CD as they are in a standalone directory. However, the installer would have created the .EXS files to go in the Sampler Instruments folder. Would anyone happen to have the .EXS files (ad folder structure) for these samples??!! And if so, I would really appreciate it if you could forward it to me so that I can use the samples again! Many Thanks, Imran

All of the Xtreme Analog and Xtreme Digital samples and instruments are bundled in with the Logic Pro 7 installers. So you should already have them all in your system, under the "Factory" category. Installing them from the Xtreme Analog disc is unnecessary duplication. It's all already there.... -------- Eli Krantzberg http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com Almat Productions

Message #15357
For those who may be interested there a couple of EXS samples for free d/load at: http://www.boldersounds.com/free.aspx BoomWhaker, Music Box & Music Maker I think are the items. The page is a bit of a pain to open (well for me it was at any rate) I've d/loaded them this evening and am going to give them a bit of a bash. They have other samples there for sale as well. chineekong also have a miniehru and minidizi ethnic EXS instr. for d/load for those of you who may want to try. They are or were working on a final full version of these for sale last time I checked. I think the Erhu instr which comes with logic pro EXS24 is by far better though. (As I said I haven't used their final full versions though). Regards CHUG.

At 01:00 AM 7/18/2006, you wrote: >Yes, Garth! That is exactly the disc! >thoughts? The reason that it doesn't load is because that CD was specially made as a Hybrid Akai/DOS CD. Because the Mac can mount it, the EXS doesn't bother to read it low-level. This was developed before OSX came out that had this restriction. Workaround? For quite awhile I've been experiencing a problem when loading songs or templates that contain EXS instruments. Certain instruments will load as if the sustain pedal is in the "on" position, and only removing and re-loading the instrument will fix it. This happens even in templates where there are obviously no sustain events. I've had this happen with a variety of sample instruments from VSL, SAM, PMI and others, so I don't see any connection to a particular vendor. Has anybody else run into this? Any help appreciated. I used a synth string patch from an old Ensoniq ESQ-1, which I bought in 1987, and still have! If you have access to an old ESQ-1, ESQ-M, or SQ-80, I'd be glad to email the patch to you. Or, just about any cheesy synth string patch will do, The older the keyboard, the better! -Mark Bradford http://www.mark-bradford.com/

First, the ZIP file contains all the WAVs plus the SF2 file plus the giga file! So it's a 260 MB download for about 120 MB worth of samples. Obviously intended for distribution on CD and not for download. Then all WAV files are named 1.wav or 2.wav or 3.wav or 4.wav., and they are placed in various subfolders. Once I had moved these folders into my samples folder, EXS24 couldn't identify the samples. While first loading the instrument, EXS24 asked a gazillion times which sample is the correct one. Something else must have been got messed up too, because most samples sounded very noisy and scratchy. In the end I had to re-assign all the sample files, but then everything worked fine. One might think the samples are high resolution (quote: "Eingespielt in höchster Qualität in 24 Bit/96 KHz") but they all are 16 bits/44.1 kHz. Glad that they are, the download was really huge enough. > FWIW, I had to shorten the name for the giga file to be recognized in > the EXS sampler instrument list. oops, I missed that one. In fact I could not load neither the SF2 nor the giga file (both are shown as "executable UNIX file" here - huh?). But there was also a EXS file in the ZIP archive. Ingo
