I heard logic 7 has all these sounds already stocked. Is that true?
I know that they were made from emagic, and they are discontinued.

Well, it works in all windows in Logic that can zoom
(arrange/score/matrix/sample edit/etc)
You can also use control+up/down arrows to zoom in the other direction....
I'd forgotten about these, so....thanks!

Thank you!
Very good info. And your screenshots are better readable than the EXS

was wondering if you had any tips on how to set up the ambient gretsch
kit as a multi in EXS 24, with
kick, snare, etc, being routed to it's own aux...

I may be wrong but I thought that was reasonably well covered in the
manual. If not then yes, I'll certainly add it to the page.
Please do me a favour - have a look and report back if the manual is
confusing or inadequate about setting up a multi. Let me know what is
missing or confusing
When you know how to do something, it's sometimes difficult to look at
the manual through the eyes of someone new to the concept in order to
evaluate what is a good tip and what is already covered.

it's probably in the manual its just that I'm a lazy bastard and was
looking for someone that already had an environment set up...
I've got the multi environement for DFHS, and I'll tell you there are
some things I really don't get...for example, you set up an aux for
every
part of the kit except the ambient mics...your DFHS instrument gets
inserted
into one designated audio instrument...and that somehow is routed to the
ambient mics....why is that?

Don't know. I don't have DFHS. Perhaps someone else can.

Okay, I actually did go back and look at the manual on how to set up
the multi exs with
the ambient gretch kit and followed it TO THE LETTER and it's still a
no go...
here's what I did:
1)set up an environment in my autoload where I created a new audio
object for 1 audio instrument (the exs 24 multi
loaded with ambient gretsch) and 5 Auxes (snare, toms, hats, kick,
cymbals)
2)set up in the EXS 24 multi editor each zone to be routed to it's
respective output
3)assigned the input of every Aux to the respective output of the Main
(Audio Instrument loaded with EXS 24 multi)
its not working......could it be because in this song (autoload) I have
the DFHS environment also??
what am I missing??

I was wondering if there is an efficient way to move
the exs sample library out of my logic folder and onto
a different HD without using a manager such as
redmatica/exsmanager... my library is starting to get
a little hefty.
thanks for the help..

I recently installed both TBO and the White Grand
pianos from SampleTekk and they play beautifully.
However, I also installed the White Sister, using the
same procedure, and although the raw samples sound
fine, when I call up the piano in exs all I hear is
white noise on every note. In desparation I've tried
several different file structures for the instrument
file but always get the same result.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, JP

The White Grand loaded fine here but the White Sister
is having the same noise problem you describe. I tried
converting the wav files to aiff as suggested but I
also ran into the same problem that was predicted. EXS
is now looking for wav files.
Any way to apprise EXS of the reference change? After
days of messing with it I'd love to hear this piano.
Thanks, JP

I bought the PMI Consolidated Bundle and had the exact same problem with
some of the pianos. I had to use the EXS manager to repair it along with an
updated instrument from PMI.

The samples for you libraries can reside anywhere, as can the sampler
instruments as long as you create an alias to their location from the
default "Sampler Instruments" folder. Once everything has been
moved,
EXS will have to search for the samples again the first time you load
each instrument, which can take a long time, but will speed up after
the initial find. Project Manager can re-link everything, but I
understand this process can take thousands of years. EXS Manager, on
the other hand, can handle this task even for gargantuan libraries in
just minutes---or less. If you've got a "hefty" library as you
mention, you really should have EXS Manager.

thanks for the info... I wasn't sure if exs operated
the same way say stylus rmx does in that you can take
the sage library off the main drive and just put an
alias in its place. I didn't want to move anything
and create more issues when exs sometimes has trouble
finding certain files already... EXS manager is on my
list of to do's I just didn't think I could wait.

Good advice
If you need more info on Logic and folder structure (which became very
confusing at the Logic 6 - 7 and OS9 - OS X transition) have a look here:

thanks pete I have actually referenced your site

since there doesn't seem to be as much out there for
logic user relative to other daws..so thank you.

I too bought EXS manager and I've been using it for
hours but can't seem to fix this problem. Do you
remember which function of EXS you used?
Thanks, JP
Just an update: My White Sister/White Noise problem was resolved using EXS
Manager. Make mine another in that exremely long list of testimonials for
this indespensible EXS product.

Hi,
I received my Garritan Orchestral Srings last week but cannot get the
gig files to import or convert to exs files.
I copied the Gigasampler files into the Sampler Instruments folder.
When I try to load a gig file into the EXS24mkII I get a dialogue box
saying:
"insufficient access priveledges for operation
REULT CODE = - 5000"
This happens for each sample I have tried to load.
I have set the gig. files to read only and also read and write but this
has no effect.
I'm not sure if my error is mac, logic or GOS related.
I'm using a dual 1gig G4 with L7.1.1 on OS 10.3.9
Thanks for any helpful hints.

This definitely sounds "permissions" related. Select the whole
folder.
Under "bet info" set permissions to read and write, unlock the
little
lock icon, and do the "apply to enclosed items thing". I find this
stuff to be a bit of voodoo on occasion. Sometimes it works other times
you have to do it two or three times until it takes.
