That should do it. If not try: "apple" and "*" (this is the Logic 7.1 version of capture last take). I use this all the time...I almost never record midi (or audio instruments) anymore...I just loop Logic and play. When I play something I like I simply capture last take. It's a great tool. Subject: [EXS] factory samples crackle
Message #14831
Hi, tried to search for this in the archives first but didn't find anything. I'm using LE 7.1.1 on my iBook G3 running OSX.3.9 with 640 MB Ram, and just recently I've noticed that all of the factory samples/sounds in the EXSP crackle. None of my other samples do this (or any other soft synth instruments), and it does it consistently - even if I create a new song with only one instance of the EXSP, nothing else, and load ANY factory sample - so it's not a CPU overload. I'm trying to figure out if I have to re-install the samples or if there is some other possible fix. I remember hearing about a feature to fix samples with the assosiated instruments - but I can't find that. Is that feature only in the PRO software version? If I DO have to re-install the samples should I delete the old ones first, or let the installer over write the existing ones (will it do that?) - and lastly does any one remember if those samples are on the 7.0 installer disc, 7.1 update disc, or do I have to get them off my LE6 discs? Much Appreciated -Russel-

Do they play at the same time after the key is pressed, or randomly? If the crackles are at reproducible times after keypress and only in certain notes, then the crackles are in the actual sample files. In that case, if you find the actual sample files (probably .aif), and import them directly into Logic, do they make crackles? Don

I got frustrated and just started messing with parrameters and such. I figured it out, by accident. Apparently the "Filter" section was turned On. When I turned it OFF everything was OK. It seems that when I load a factory sample this always gets turned On even if it's not supposed to be, while when loading anything else it's not On if it's not supposed to be. Subject: [EXS] global transpose?
Message #14841
Hi everyone. Does anyone know what would cause my entire song to be transposed 1/2 step down. Last time I opened the song...it played fine. I've upgraded to 7.1.1 since then... Every exs instrument is playing down 1/2 step. When I stop the song and play a note...it sounds at the proper pitch. I'm stumped. Logic 7.1.1 on a G5 dual 2.7mhz 6gig ram Thanks, julie www.julielarson.net

This causes the same problem on my system every time. The only solution I've found is to do this: Quit Logic Open SoundDiver and do whatever you need to do. Close SoundDiver Log out of OSX and login again. Restart Logic. You songs will now play as normal. It's a severe pain in the butt and will probably never be fixed as no-one cares about SoundDiver anymore. If anyone has found out what really happens in the engine, please let us know as perhaps a more elegant solution can be devised. Hope this fixes it.... Regards - Colin

Hm. "Vocal Writer" seems to sound similar to "Virtual Singer" for Harmony Assistent. Can someone compare the two? Vocal Writer goes for $40, Harmony Assistant plus Virtual Singer costs $70 but you get much more: http://www.myriad-online.com/en/docs/harmonydesc.htm http://www.myriad-online.com/en/products/virtualsinger.htm I used the older Harmony Assistent plus singer and think I will get the new one. Of course, an AU plugin would be best for Logic if we need just a synthetical voice for layouts. There is one: http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_CANTOR/e_cantor.html But for 350 Euro it is a, it is an, huh, well, decide yourself... ___ Peter Ostry

Is it only EXS instruments or all other stuff too? The strange thing is that you get the correct pitch playing live - same thing that happened to me. Only replaying the song causes this half pitch lower thing. One thing to perhaps try: Preferences/MIDI/ click on the <Reset Messages> tab Try checking <Pitch bend to center position> .....maybe this will help. Don't panic....yet.... :-) Regards - Colin

Could be an inadvertent accident caused by playing with some of the global track chord and/or transpose features. Check your global tracks and make sure there is nothing there that is causing it. Because when you adjust chord/transpose parameters there to alter Apple Loops, the parameters end up effecting all your midi instruments. If you are intentionally using the global tracks for this, you need to manually check the "no transpose" feature on each midi or soft synth track object that you don't want transposed. -------- Eli Krantzberg http://www.nightshiftorchestra.com Almat Productions
