Seriously, better do that before you might not be able to load it anymore at all. Funny thing is, up to this day I NEVER had a corrupted song file at all. But then, I'm still mainly on Windows and even back when both platforms were running the same versions these things seemed to happen quite more often on Macs. The location in L7 is library/application support/logic This where the sampler instruments folder (or an alias pointing to it) needs to be. You can put the samples folder wherever you want, they should be found as long as they are on a drive that is connected to your computer. Not sure whether this has changed in L7, but in previous versions the EXS preferences offered an option about where to search for your samples - so it's not allways systemwide. One might have to check for that preference. Anyways, in case you move a LOT of samples, I'd highly recommend EXS manager to reassign them way more quickly than loading them one by one or scanning them with the Project Manager would ever be able to. - Sascha

Just had a look. If I understand correctly, at least for Old Lady, real time pedaling is notsupported in EXS. Does this mean that if you load an EXS instance, you can't play normally through a controller using the pedal? If so, sounds like a serious limitation. Or maybe I'm not understanding correctly. I presently use the East-West Steinway. Has anyone on this list used Ivory? I'm not sure if it's available as EXS,but if not, I'm not sure how you'd use it in Logic. If anyone has used Ivory and Emperor/Old Lady, would there be any comparisons out there? The messy samples and bits that I had have been put up at: http://www.lucytune.com/BagPipeStuff/ Help yourselves, no guarantees given nor implied;-) The problem is that you need to separate the drone and the melody, so that the drone remains constant pitch as the melody changes + the strange start, end, and squwaks (sp). Maybe a separate audio track for each sound could be the answer? But they are all mixed up on the audio that I found. There seems to be a Bagpipe in Cameleon5000, but I have yet to play with it. I had got some of these samples from Andy and some I found. I was using it for a theatrical farce with a waltz, live performance of "On The Razzle"; so the fact that my mix was less than authentic was appropriate as it was intended to stimulate laughter. >> On 1 Dec 2004, at 09:25, G.ROSS wrote: > > I’d love to have a copy of your bagpipe samples too, I’ve got a project > which I need bagpipes for. Well guys, wouldn t be much easier to create 2 instruments, one for the drone, the other for the melody ? No problem in studio, and if you play live, simply create a zone split on 2 different chanel. The problem is how do you make bagpipes play without the drones? I don¹t think you can play the pipes without the drones and I don¹t think you can play the drones without the chanter. The chanter on its own sounds nothing like the pipes. The idea is you play the chanter as you would the real chanter with the grace notes, trills, etc with your right hand as you hold down the drones key with your left hand on your keyboard. It's not perfect as the nuances of the instrument are many. I've never been enchanted by even the best real, live solo bagpipe. It seems to me to be an instrument that sounds best in a group, e.g. a Scottish Highlands bagpipe troupe. I've found you can improve the sound of a sampled BP by adding a bit of oboe to the chanter line, and a square wave analog synth patch to the drones - not 100% organic, but works pretty well in a track. It s got to be possible, because the world wind library got some separate samples. Wouldn t be possible to block the air flow with fabric ? I did a similar thing on a guitar few years ago to be able to record some off the wall harmonics without getting the other strings rersonance kicking in. Took some time to properly postion the damper without affecting the playing, but the end result was flawless. Off course, in this case, I know little about the bagpipes, but I would have to imagine that there is a different pipe for all the different sound, no ? If so, disabling all but one (muting, damping, whatever you want to name it) will let you do some solo recording. If my theory doesn t cut it, can you tell me why in details, I m always curious about instrument mechanics. Louis > > The problem is how do you make bagpipes play without the drones? > Maybe you have some good ideas of how to pitch change the melody > without simultaneously changing the drone or sampling every single note > at every level. Nothing easier than that (assuming you'd sample the melody and drone parts separately). Just split the sample zones and you're done. Or do I get something completely wrong? Hold on, there's another method: In case you want the drone to be autotriggered, you just set the range all over the keyboard and activate "Disable Pitch". - Sascha

I could not solve it with project manager so I emailed Michiel and he sent a new DVD which did have sit files. This one worked fine. BTW I have uploaded an environment which gets the Old Lady pedal noise to work with the sustain pedal. Pete Thomas www.petethomas.co.uk - Free Logic Icons, Environments and EXS Instruments

Gareth, I just posted this morning about a solution that worked for me - did you not read it? To unsubscribe from this list simply email exs-users-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com ... Companies are also more than welcome to announce special offers or discounts/sales they are having on sample CDs, as long as such announcements are not made excessively. To prevent the list from becoming too commercial in nature, we ask that any one person or company only post on-topic advertisements once every 60 days. Advertising any non-EXS related products will be considered spamming and will result in your advertisement being deleted, and your account being banned from the exs-users, logic-users and other related lists. We've had a few list members start using extermely long signature lines themselves, so by the time it all adds up a 1 line email could end up with a 25+ line signature appended to it. Unfortunately we have no control over YahooGroup's own signature line. We have shortened the list's own signature, and to further reduce clutter we are asking all list members to not use an email signature of more than 5-10 lines. We also ask that you don't include too many links or advertisements, or anything else deemed offensive (such as political quotes). The list moderators will contact you at their discretion if there is a problem with your email signature. - Members who disregard these requests will be moderated and asked to correct offending messages before they can be posted to the list. - Sharing illegal samples on the list, or asking for people to trade with, is not allowed. EXS-related Mac vs PC discussions will be allowed on this list, though any individuals who fail to discuss this subject calmly and become too vicious will be removed from the list. *** All threads in this vein will need to remain on topic (directly relating to EXS). *** - We also manage several other Emagic-related mailing lists, all hosted by YahooGroups: Logic-Users, Logic-TDM, Logic-OT, and SoundDiver-Users.
