No, it's not *that* clear, but if I imagine two different piano sounds I really don't know how I'd describe the differences. So I reckon you've made a terrific attempt! :-) I spose the real point is: are they different enough to warrant having both? Sounds like "yep"...(?)

I compared the Old Lady to the Emperor and when I found out that the group buy was extended to the Emperor I immediately contacted Michiel to change my order to the Emperor. But it is a matter of personal taste. I found the Emperor to sound more like the pianos I have known and more like the sound I expect from a piano. The Old Lady has a mellow sound which would certainly have its applications. The group buy is at: http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/showthread.php?t&687&page=1&; pp Tom

Subject: The Old Lady Piano
Message #13110
Hello gang, I received the EXS24 version of The Old Lady Piano today, and I've got good and bad feelings. Good because it looks like a killer piano, bad because I can't hear it! It seems that even for the 16 bit version, 2 Gb of ram is not enough?!!! I was under the impression that 2Gb was enough for the lower bit version. Also, I tried loading the down pedal version only, and I got a message telling that EXS can't find the first sample, A0. Is anyone successfully using The Old Lady in Logic, and if so, how much ram do you have, and where have you placed the 2 folders named, "OLD LADY final compressed.wve", and "old lady release.wve"?* My setup: Dual 2Ghz, 2Gb of RAM, OS 10.3.5, Logic 7. I would contact Michiel, I had problems a couple of weeks ago at first and he sent me a new DVD, though I would have thought you should have got the latest. It works great now for me, and I have uploaded an environment to get the pedal noise working with the sustain pedal if you want it. Subject: haunted song file
Message #13115
This is a reply to #13111.
Hi all, I'm working on an orchestral piece. 28 exs instances so far. I'm in about 3 minutes into the piece and my song file has become haunted. When I open it I get a message that tells me the song is damaged. It offers me 2 options repair and encapsulate. Either of these choices produces a dialog that says minor problem in data (3)..... repair or exit. Hit repair and the song opens.... things seem fine.... but they are not. Note lengths in several sequences are extended to be maybe a hundred measures in length....fix them...they come right back....or I can get another dialog that tells me there is another minor problem in data (3).....repair or cancel. DON'T HIT CANCEL.....the sequence goes away. It becomes an empty sequence called trash. Hit repair and logic thinks for a minute and does seemingly nothing. One of my EXS instances keeps loosing it's samples. There have been other problems I copied a sequence from one track to another and was told that I had done some kind of circular something or other and to contact Emagic and tell them how. Notes in a sequence can just show up at a different pitch Anyway....the song is full of goblins. I need this song.... Is there someway to salvage this thing? All help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. julie

There may've been better ways to fix them, but I've had success by starting with a fresh autoload song, manually re-creating time signatures, key signatures, environment adjustments, etc. then copying and pasting each sequence from the damaged song to the new one. Good luck! Bill

Bill What Bill said plus: A couple of years ago I had the luxury of a PC and a Mac, I could sometimes fix a spooked song by importing from PC to mac then back again or vice versa. It's worth trying if you have access to a friend with the other platform, or if you are on Logic 6, try exporting down to 4.8 then back again. Otherwise it's the old copy and paste the tracks to a fresh song I think Pete Thomas www.petethomas.co.uk - Free Logic Icons, Environments and EXS Instruments

Only then there's chances the song will not make Logic crash. And there's still chances it will crash anyways. 4.8 export since LogicPro is bloated. - Sascha
