LastLibs Acoustic Bass Library - Playable Demo Saw this on kvr-vst. Might be pretty decent for a feebie. 48MB http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pg1903#671903 I asked if they had an EXS Version, and the guy replied that if I could get 9 more EXS users to ask for it he'll do it. It's up with a Kontakt version. Maybe somebody here could translate it. Chicken Systems, CDXtract guys? :-) ===="You blow in this end of the trombone, and sound comes out the other end and disrupts the cosmos." I made an exact (at least more or less) replica of this instrument for the EXS. You can get it here: http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/Lastufka_ABG_Demo.zip (Of course you need the samples from the site mentioned in the K-v-R thread) Thing is, the original is missing a lot of notes (so chromatic playing is no option), plus, I also found some samples to have too much silence in the beginning. I allready modified the set for myself, closing the gaps in the mapping, trimming some sample start points and even adding loop points to any sustained notes (barely noticeable, but at least you can sustain any modified patch ad nauseum, just in case you'd like to do a bass-ish pad or whatever...). Won't post this modified patch right now though, I'll ask the author for permission first. In case you only use this patch in a range of, say, 2 octaves it defenitely has some use IMO. Regards, Sascha

Something has been terribly wrong with my Kontakt replica. First I thought I had forgotten to save before closing Logic, but that doesn't explain most things (also, I doubt this was the case). However, when I reloaded the instrument, all of a sudden the "middle" group zones weren't grouped any longer (which *could* be due to not having saved the instrument) - but, WAY more weird, they were triggered on note release (and they DEFENITELY weren't routed to the release group). Also, I noticed some extreme phasing when loading the patch again (which defenitely wasn't there when I constructed it), just as if the sample start points of one sample have been moved big time You see me totally clueless! I wondered about the patch anyways - in the original there's allways two samples played for each note. It's not as if they were velocity mapped, no, they're just doubled in all their range - ey don't sound like being played at different velocities anyways, so I really don't understand this (nd no, they're not split stereo files either, at least in the original Kontakt patch they are all dead centered). Hm, some things to sort out. But anyways, Alan (the author) said it was OK to do a modified patch, covering all key zones. Will post soon, for now you better forget about what I have been posting allready, there seem to be some weird issues when using release groups (maybe they are PC issues, but I doubt that). - Sascha

As far as the instrument patch goes: - Same link as before. http://home.arcor.de/s.franck/exs/Lastufka_ABG_Demo.zip that is - This should now indeed be as close as possible to the original Kontakt patch. The author used some "round robin" feature in Kontakt, which would mean that "index" and "middle" finger groups would be triggered alternatively. Had to find out how to do that in the EXS because I never used it before. Now it works. - The only modification I did so far was closing the gaps in the mapping, so you can play it chromatically now from E2 to B3. I didn't alter the start points yet, to keep the intention of the author. Will perhaps do later. As far as sample hosting goes: - I don't think it'd even be fair to ask for permission as this is the demo patch of a commercial instrument (sampling of it apparently took quite some effort) and it's nice enough to get permission to alter these patches (well sure, everybody could do so without asking, but still, it's nice to have an official "OK"). - You can allways get the samples from this thread: http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pg4329#674329 It's just two clicks away. I then unzipped it using UnRarX. And thanks for the EXS instrument... works fine. What does "Use a proper browser" mean? Is there something wrong with Safari that would cause this crashing? Is Safari inferior in some ways to another Browser? Which would that be? Thanks, Jay

Personally I'm using Firefox on Windows (a Mozilla based browser), which is free and working great. There's a Mac OSX version as well, maybe you should try it: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ Best, Sascha

I don't like Internet Explorer though. It just feels slow and awkward.(actually never use it). Interesting and disappointing about Safari though. I checked out the Mozilla link,I may just give it a try and see how it feels! Thanks for the info. Sorry so off topic. Jay

G'day group! A friend just told me that he needs a set of pipe organ bass pedal samples. He reckons that playing normal pipe organ sounds an octave or two lower doesn't sound right, so he particularly wants the pedal samples. Any suggestions?

Hi all, as a result of difficulties in dealing with HollowSun, I've taken down the web page offering the converted ESX instruments to the public. I've uploaded the archive of all instrument files to the files section of this group so at least members of this group still have access to them, you'll need to grab the samples from Hollow Sun. michael
