And how do you go about doing this conversion? I tried the copy/paste
thing and I keep getting the message"No configuration for CoreAudio
found"
I am using two MOTU 2408s with CoreAudio driver and was using them
ubder ASIO before.
Thanks for your reply!

wouw,
how bad and out of date can a website be?
however, if the program works, its certainly nice to have. too bad its
windoze only.
but i just cant get over that website. with is special offer ending

I'm getting 180 stereo voices off a single 120GB FW drive, so there
aren't any innate problems. But the dual 450 is from the early
Firewire days, so I'd do some research (some Mac forum somewhere?) on
whether there are any problems with its implementation that could get
in the way.
Just make sure not to listen to the stupid computer specs that people
will throw at you, no matter how intelligent it makes the person
quoting them sound. 99% of the time they're totally irrelevant!

don't worry about the date, to my knowledge the price
is still valid and the program works great!!

are you sure you aren't dropping data when streaming with firewire? in my
testing,
i've found that all drives (ata, scsi) will appear to playback as many
voices as your CPU
can handle. but the slower the drive, the more they have to drop data to do
it.
logic/EXS doesn't warn you that data has been dropped. but if you keep the
EXS
Virtual Memory panel open, you can see a figure for dropped sample data.
i've personally found that ATA/100 drives in oxford911 firewire cases can
stream
about 110 stereo voices before dropping data.
anyway, just wanted to mention it.
cheers

I've never heard of these drives. Who manufactures them?

Umm you buy an ATA/100 drive and put it in a firewire case.
I doubt anyones using anything other than the Oxford chip nowadays in their
enclosures.

they've got an ad in the last _tape-op_ (which reviews the dave smith
instruments "evolver" and ableton "live" 2.0)
they usedto use IBM drives, but i dunno what they use now:

Hi,
Sample Move seems to be exactly what I am looking for except that it
is too expensive...
I'll try to look for a simpler application.
Thanks

I'm not sure, and maybe I'll repeat the test someday with that window
open, although CM from VSL thinks I probably just have most of the
data on the fast part of the drive.
In any case, I think that Firewire's bandwidth shouldn't be an issue,
i.e. you'd probably get the same result with the drive mounted
internally.
What could be an issue - and maybe I should have mentioned this - is
that not all Firewire drives work 100% reliably in Pro Tools, so as a
matter of course I move some of the tracks to the internal drive just
to cut off any problems at the pass. You'll be going along fine, and
then all of a sudden you'll get "disk too slow or fragmented"
messages, when it's neither; moving tracks over is the only way to
get it to be happy. I haven't experienced this with the EXS24
streaming voices, but it could happen.

Hi,
I'm running Logic Audio 5.5 on my iMac; I have both OS 9 and OS X
running, and the only thing that stops me from moving to OS X
completely is the fact that there's no Audio Units version of
Sampletank and Loopazoid :-(
I've been playing with the 4-week-trial version of EXS24, and I like it
a lot. BUT for me, that's quite an investment to make.
I read on the Emagic website that if you buy the EXSP24 (the player
version), you get 500 MB of samples for free.
Is there a good piano on the CD???
For now, I'm quite happy with the Sampletank Free Piano. I know that
there are better piano's out there (from Sampletank themselves, for
example), but I'm not a pro pianist, so a piano of the same level as
the Free Piano would be O.K.
I do like a fairly "classic" sound (not the "sharp" rock
piano sound).
Thanks for any tips!

Jaap

And while I totally agree on this, there's still no reason for N.I.s file
browsers to be THAT lousy (come on, Battery doesn't even have a resizeable
"open" dialog, which is an OS standard, at least on Windows, a
requirement
in case you're browsing large sample directories) and the EXS editor an file
management to be even lousier (why in the world do I have to save EACH
instrument in case I only want to use it in ONE single song, such as a vocal
track that I'd like quickly slap onto some EXS keys? The EXS is the ONLY
softsampler requiring such a nonsense).
IMHO this is simply ignorant behaviour. The EXS editor has been something
that people were complaing about since the day it appeared, yet it has seen
close to no improvements, not even with Logic 6. Pretty much a
dissapointment, if you ask me. Still the easiest to handle general UI, still
the lousiest editor.

Sascha

Hi all,
After installing the EVD6, I'm now unable to open the EXSmkII.
I'm getting this message:
ASIO
Resource not found

LAP 5.5.0, DP533mHz, OS 9.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I totally agree on those 2 but my complaints about EXS are different.
Still No true multitimbral capability. This is the real ignorqant behaviour.
People also complained about this since the beginning.
Halion, Kontakt, Sample Tank and BELIEVE IT OR NOT EXSP24 has this feature.
You can save multis in most of those samplers.

Jaap,
Supposing it's still the 'same old collection' that Emagic is
shipping: no the Emagic piano is not that great and it's rather
memory hungry.
I guess most members on this list would agree that the best free,
available grand piano is the one you may download from the AKAI FTP-
site.
You can read on my site for further instructions
(http://www.cone.nl/test/exs.htm)
Good luck

I don't mind the Emagic Factory Piano, but it's definitely not the best
I've heard, and the AKAI ones are WAY better. Seeing as they are both
free, I use the AKAI ones all the time now. I had no problem importing
them into my EXS24.

Hi,
Can anyone give me SIMPLE pointers on how to get samples from flash
memory in my Akai CD300XL into EXS24.
I really need the keyboard setups, not just the bare samples, as I'm
not clever enough to sort them.
Even this sounds too tasking for my simple brain. Perhaps it isn't
possible?
