Anyone with MESA and translator can translate to EXS the akai samples of
that site? Looks very cool stuff ;)
Would anyone know of a good source for gamelan-type samples? Or, more
specifically, various tuned gongs and "knob" gong instruments.
Thanks in
advance!
Roland

Hey... Thanks Eli!
Bob
Our Spectrasonics Heart of Asia CD-ROM has the entire Gamelan Orchestral
available as multisamples and phrases. Works great in EXS24 too!

i've actually noticed recently that digital village in the uk are
undercutting thomann on several items.
changed days indeed.

Here's one for the techies and audiophiles...
Has anyone noticed a sound quality difference between the following:
a) layering samples within a single EXS instrument
b) playing the same samples back via two separate EXS instances on
different tracks
Granted, (b) creates more flexibility for altering pan and EQ within
a song; but all things being equal has anyone
noticed any difference in the quality of the sounds (i.e. one sounds
warmer, darker, better transients, etc)?

Check the files section for a few exs samples.... they are all
stuffed on a mac and download as .sit files.
Hi all,
I visited the akaipro site and downloaded some sounds. I would like to
import them now but in the instructions of the exs24 they say that it only
works with a cd. Should I first burn them on cd and then will they be read
or will this not work either?
Any help will be appreciated.

I have the Propellor Island Complete Gamelan CD-ROM for Akai. Haven't
converted it over to
EXS24 yet.
I used it very briefly for a soundtrack project, but all parts were replaced
by real gamelan.
So, I can't really recall how good it actually is. Very thorough - lots of
multiple strikes etc.
They have a gong CD as well.

I've had a lot of success in the past getting quotes from Thomann and
then contacting Turnkey and pointing out that in their Sound on Sound
ads they claim a "Europe's Lowest Prices Guarantee".
Hasn't made me very popular there, mind, especially with German-
produced stuff...
