Thanks for the tip and the utility,
Paul.
I have added another useful utility for Mac users at
http://MusicBootCamp.com/EXS24.shtml
Invisible File Copier: This nifty utility allows Mac users to view
Type/Creator codes of existing files (any kind), change those codes, view
invisible files, make invisible files visible and visa versa.
THANKS!

Hey, great stuff!
Just finished downloading (what a pain to wait if you're on a modem) and
loading, only played a few note, but so far I love that oldfashoned sound a
lot!
Thanks a lot, Thomas!

2 ideas: (1) Name them 001-Jewelz, 002-FooBar, etc., to match the
documentation, or,
(2) Name them 062-Jewelz, 066-Funky, 092-Laidback, using the BPM
tempo of the original. I think that is how Eric organizes them anyway.
EXS will sort by the first letters or numbers of the name.
(Names of loops impersonated...)
BTW, I have Methamorphosis AKAI EXS-ed, and I love it! The tempo-
matched menu patches are an endless source of inspiration. And the
fidelity is simply perfect. Thank you Eric P. (Don't even get me
started on how cool Groove Control is...)

P.S. Eric, if you are lurking...whatever happened to the 'Brazil'
library with Alex. I assume that there is some sort of a

I didn't realize that the file naming convention is case sensitive. For the
two utilities I spoke of, please visit http://MusicBootCamp.com/exs24.shtml

Thanks Scott...if you dig those aspects of MM you'll flip over Stylus...we
expanded the menu concept and broke it down to EVERY tempo, with Swing
versions and percussion menus too! You can filter and tweak each loop key
independantly just by touching the keys and changing the sliders in Zone
Edit
mode....really creative and fast way to customize the grooves. And of course
all memorized by your Logic song!

You'll see....Brazilian's on hold for the time being, but all of that
material and much more will be released in a future product...patience......
I'd get the EVP88. You wont find better anywhere.

Thanks for that recent Autotyper link!
I've been trying to import some samples (all free and clear) from pc format
and have been having some bad luck. This recent Autotyper helped, but now I
need one that will change underscores to actual spaces. (trying to retype
800 samples is not something I'm looking forward to!)
Does any one know if something like this exists?
thanks!

Eric,
Completely unfair!!! Teasing is not allowed. ;^)
On a more serious note, I hope you do reconsider releasing further GC
titles, ie: Brazilian Beats. As happy as I am with the RetroFunk &
BackBeat
CDs, one of the reasons I bought into the GC concept was the planned Latin
percussion disk(s). While there may be advances in your virtual instruments
that carry beyond what you can do w/EXS & GC, I do hope you consider
finishing off the original classic drumming trilogy of disks.

Shane

Why would you do this? Wouldn't that spoil the EXS instrument since it is
going to search for the sample names under their original spellings? What
about the sample sets is not currently working? Or are the underscores being
added after the import process somehow? It's shouldn't be this hard. How are
the samples being imported to begin with?

Hello .
something in and out Topic...
I use a soft to rename hundred of files in a sequential process, for pieces
of drawing animations for example.
Graphic Converter 3.9, on Mac Intosh, I hope it runs under Windows too.
It's a graphical soft, very famous and shareware with a little fee to obtain
full
functions. You can process the renaming functions on any kind of files
(datas).
Using it , you can rename for example : sound_piano01.wav to
sound-piano01.wav
and do it for thousand instances in one click.
Just try it.
And let me know in private mail if it's ok ?
Try www.versiontracker.com to download the last version.
GraphicConverter is the exact spelling, may be case sensitive.

Hello,
There's also a few utilities on www.downloads.com such as 'drop rename' - it
will change any instance of a character/sequence of characters to whatever
you like. You have to be careful though because once you've renamed files
there's no undo capability.
On the whole downloads.com is a really useful resource for finding little
utilities like this (for both mac and PC).

I did a quick search for renaming utilities at http://downloads.cnet.com and
found a lot of results for Mac. You can try a similar search for PC
shareware/freeware.
Mac results:

material
you want and much more will be released. Just don't hold your breath for
more
Spectrasonics sample libraries, the whole idea of the VIs is that we can
offer a MUCH better product, value and musical experience in an instrument
than we could ever do with sample libraries and the limitations of all the
current samplers and compatibility nightmares.

Dear Eric,
So your saying to get the exs to read the files in some usable order I
will have to rename everyone??
Thanks

I'm a dedicated Spectrasonics fan (as you may know), but I have never tried
Metamorphosis, and I am considering its purchase.
How would you describe it, and in what genres of music do you feel it sits
most comfortably?
(anyone else as well!!!)

Yep...don't blame me though..blame Akai for having only 12 character names!

Hi
I've searched the database about this, but all answers seem to point to
extracting the Akai bit to a disc imge using a Windows utility in
Virtual PC. There must be an easier way on the Mac???
Thanks
