Subject: Some patches for you
Message #2600
Hey, I just stumbled across the following site: http://www.zoolabmusic.com/ (thanks to Hendrik Jan Veenstra, he posted that one on the LUG). Now, when you go to their download section you'll find some Nord Modular samples. And, what nice dudes they are, these samples are perfectly looped, so creating EXS patches is no deal at all. And as if that wasn't good enough allready, I created some simple EXS patches out of them. And hey, I even went a bit further and created some patches making more or less intense use of the EXS own synthesis options. So, go download the samples, unzip them onto your preferred EXS samples partition (use different folders as there are some samples of the same name) and then get the EXS instrument files here: www.saschafranck.de/zoolab_nord_modular.zip (only 14kb) This file contains three sort of patches (divided into two zips to make things more clear): Zip 1 ("SamplerInstruments.zip"): 1) Very basic EXS instruments only containing some keymapping. No UI settings are applied to them. Here's a great tip, btw: You can load any patch with some nice sounding Filter, LFO and whatever settings, then load the "raw" patches from the zip and voila, the filter settings are applied to that patch. 2) Some combined EXS instruments, still using the same samples from the zoolab site, but also using some combinations, such as L/R detuned zones of different instruments. Still no UI settings are applied, so you can use the tip from 1). Not much yet, maybe more later. Put both of these patches into your "Sampler Instruments" directory (I recommend unzipping while preserving the directory structures) Zip 2 (PluginSettings.zip): 3) Some Plugin Settings (.PST). These are using the patches from 1) and 2) but also make use of the EXS synthesis. Put those into "Plugin-SettingsEXS24". Again, not too much yet. ***Small Alert*** All the "NordPuls" patches are using samples of the same name. They aren't the same though but as the EXS will have to search your samples, keep an eye on what samples these will be. I tried to give the EXS instruments appropriate names, also there's just three "NordPuls" sample folders, so the EXS should give you all necessary options to choose from (unless on your drive there's more samples using exactly the same names). Hope you like these patches a bit, maybe I will do some more and also some patches for their Waldorf Pulse samples as well. Oh, and maybe it'd be a nice idea to exchange both EXS patches and Plugin-settings based on these samples, no? Last note: I didn't do a set for the "Nordkit" yet and I won't as I don't use the EXS for drums anymore. Cheers, Sascha
