This is a reply to #15654.

Thanks very much in advance. Well, in your example you could just replace the sine wave with a square wave in the EXS Edit window and Save As a new instrument, but I assume you might also want to do this with more complex Sampler Instruments without having to go through the hassle of using the EXS Edit window.. This question comes up periodically - here's a post I made a while back that explains how to do it.. First off, you need to be clear on the two different ways to store parameter settings in EXS.. - Parameters can be set and saved to the Instrument preset (saved via the "Save settings to instrument" in the Options menu on the right side of the EXS GUI, and accessed from the big, central pulldown menu in the EXS GUI).. - The same parameter settings can be saved as a "Setting", from the small pulldown menu on the upper left of the EXS GUI. You'll need to use Settings to do what you want.. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * RePost * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * When you save an EXS "Setting" it's attached to the Instrument (complete with samples) that it references, so when you load the Setting the Instrument/Samples are also automatically loaded. To apply a Setting to a *different* Instrument, you have to do the following.. - Save a Setting you want to re-use (Let's call it Setting A) - Load up a different Instrument you want to apply that Setting to - In the Options submenu (right side EXS GUI) choose the menu option "Delete settings from instrument" - Choose "Save instrument as" from the same submenu and give it a new name (let's call it Instrument A) - Load Setting A - this will blow out the Instrument you just saved (Instrument A), but that's ok - Now load Instrument A. Normally this would blow out the Setting and Instrument currently loaded, but since you just saved Instrument A with no settings, only the Instrument will be blown out, and the new Setting (Setting A) will remain loaded along with Instrument A - Now you can save the settings from Setting A to Instrument A via the EXS GUI Options submenu with "Save settings to instrument" - You can also save this new Instrument A with Setting A as a new Setting, with "Save Setting as" from the Settings submenu (left side EXS GUI) - this will create a Setting which references/loads Instrument A It's a bit of a kludge, but it's much easier to do than to describe - once you get the routine down it's pretty quick.. Perhaps someday Apple will implement the ability to save/load or copy/paste *just* a Setting without its associated Instrument, which would make this process a little less ass-backward.. ;-) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * End RePost * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Cheers, Joe Albano ROOFTOP PRODUCTIONS NYC NY Music Production : http://www.rooftopproductions.com Freelance/Consult : http://www.rooftopproductions.com/Consulting.html
